Sometimes things just “happen” at the Boat Club and a great example was Monday night, September 14, 2009. While
we were still recovering from the big Labor Day Weekend Four-Day Birthday Bash, the word went out via e-mail
that nineteen fl at-bottom Dutch sailboats would arrive at NBC to spend the night at our dock. As Rear Commodore -
Programs Kieran Quinn wrote to the membership: “These glorious, historic vessels were shipped across the Atlantic to
celebrate the 400th anniversary of Henry Hudson’s voyage of exploration on behalf of the Dutch East India Company
