General Information
Purpose
To encourage and support yachting and yacht racing on the Hudson River and surrounding waters, good seamanship and navigation, and to provide for the recreation and enjoyment of its members.
The Nyack Boat Club was informally started in the late 1890's by a group of boating enthusiasts to insure the continuation of recreational sailing and boating on the majestic Hudson. Set on a beautiful 2 1/2 acre site, the club is equidistant between the Tappan Zee Bridge and lovely Hook Mountain, on the west shore of the river.
In order to steady boating costs at reasonable levels, the club's philosophy has always been that of a Do-It-Yourself organization, with the membership being responsible for facility maintenance and improvements. This becomes an easy, ongoing endeavor through the abundance of talent found within the membership and allows our members to get to know each other through the various committees on which they serve.
Club Management
The Nyack Boat Club is a non-profit corporation. Management of the club is overseen by a Board of Governors which consists of eight officers and 6 Governors elected from the general membership. Officers and governors are elected one-year terms A budget is prepared each year by the Board and is approved by the membership in at the annual meeting in January.
Twenty three committees manage the operation, maintenance and repair of the club property and facilities year round. A caretaker resides in upper level of clubhouse.
Regular membership meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month.
