On  June 17th, Riverkeeper Hudson River Program Director, Phillip Musegaas, presented a program on the Riverkeeper efforts and the current status of Environmental Issues.   He also introduced us to the Water Quality reports available online.  This links to the testing results at the Nyack Launch Ramp, adjacent to the Nyack waterfront park:

Virtual Ocean Presentation & Workshop

Virtual Ocean, a web based application,  integrates the GeoMapApp tool suite with the NASA World Wind 3-D earth browser to create a powerful new platform for interdisciplinary research and education.

2010 Launch Operator’s Course at the Nyack Boat Club


This is the Official Class to be provided by Sea School.  


Times: Thursday & Friday  _6_pm – _10_pm  

             Saturday  _9_am - _6_pm  (with test given at end of day)  


Attendance by Reservation only – to be limited to 20 people


Reservation DEADLINE:  August 21


Priority will be given to Club Members and their immediate family, but Non-NBC members will be invited after August 14th  


$100/ person for NBC Club Members*

$150/ person for non-NBC Club Members

Justin Coplan Wins Three-peats Lightning Metro District Championship

Justin Coplan who surprised the veteran Lightning sailors at the Monmouth Boat Club in 2008 when he won the Lightning Metropolitan District Championship, showed it wasn’t a fluke June 19-20 in winning the title again.Coplan, 22, a programmer at Columbia University’s earth research institute,  also won the 2009 event on his home waters at the Nyack Boat Club.

2010 Press Release from Helen Hayes Hospital

ADAPTED SAILING PROGRAM SCHEDULED


The Helen Hayes Hospital Adapted Sports and Recreation program, in conjunction with the Nyack Boat Club, will be hosting their fifth annual Adapted Sailing program this May. The program offers individuals with physical disabilities the opportunity to learn to sail using adaptive equipment. Experienced sailors from the Club’s Sonar Fleet 23, along with therapists from the physical rehabilitation hospital, will provide an introductory skills workshop and an afternoon of sailing on the Hudson River. The event takes place beginning May 6 and concludes with the Regatta on May 15. Pre-registration is required.

2010 HRYRA Application Available

The 2010 applications for HRYRA membership and a PHRF Certificate are now available.
Please fill out the form, print it, and SIGN and DATE it.  Include the PHRF Form with a check for the $25 PHRF fee with your 2010 HRYRA Membership Application. Mail to Cc Dwyer, HRYRA Secretary / Treasurer. The address is on the HRYRA Membership Application.

Feb. 13 - 14th Launch Operator's Course at the Club from 9am - 6pm. Test will be given on that Sun. The Cost for Club Members for the Course will be $100.

If you drive the Club Launch for Season 2010 and complete 40 hours of driving, then your fee will be reimbursed in Full. Priority will be given to Club Members and their immediate family. Get your check in now because if the Course isn't full by Jan. 24th a notice will be sent out to other Clubs.

Contact Carol Marsh and mail check made out to Nyack Boat Club for $100 to 16 Ashlawn Ave., Spring Valley, NY 10977. Can also contact Stephanie Mayo for additional information.
